Blowing Smoke

On board one of my tugboats I had a man tell me once that I have had enough experiences for three lifetimes! Of course, I ate up that recognition, especially when constantly made to feel like I was the lesser early in life.

The Character of a person I have always felt was worth far more than earthly accomplishments, and yes, you can have both, but most people get “puffed up” in ego by their status in the world with few remaining humble enough in realizing that most of their personal gains are but a gift from God, and not of themselves!

You will remember that Jesus told Pilot that all the authority he was given on earth, was by his Father who was in heaven. With that, Pilot attempted to wash his hands of the Lord’s condemnation by men!

I have known a few men who remained humble, despite their outstanding success in the world, one was a cousin of mine who had been a paratrooper during World War Two. He understood the value of a man’s character despite his station in life.

But then we will always have the ones who I call the “smoke blowers”; these type people create an illusion of grandeur while projecting their importance onto others. This is not to say that they have not had their successes and experiences in life, only that they tend to be creative in over-dramatizing themselves, often at the expense of others. This is what allot of politicians do, they enhance their importance and sometimes will even fabricate stories, thus drawing more attention to themselves.

Like most people who have known some degree of struggle within their lives, I find these types of people repulsive. I had once met a man who served in the infantry during the First World War (The great War) in France under General Black Jack Pershing; I was humbled and amazed at what was most important to him: wool blankets which he pointed to on our museum ship, he got very excited exclaiming how wonderful it was to have a wool blanket while in the trenches of WW I, in keeping warm from the snow and rain, and then he added, if you had two blankets; boy you were in heaven!

I then realized just how spoiled our society has become to those who had lived 100 years ago! The character of these old timers often embraced the very basics of life’s necessities, as if they were of a great prize, which was very sobering to me!

One thing which remains consistent to me, is that the one who struggles in life, seems to develop a greater character then people who have simply been given earthly wealth and status. And oftentimes people who increase their prominence in the world tend to forget either wear they came from and will often look down upon others, who may have overcome even greater obstacles within their lives!

This goes far beyond race, gender, beliefs, or place of origin; rather I am speaking about the character of the individual soul, the merit of an individual and what they do with what they have been given yet overcome. Jesus Christ, (my Lord) exemplifies to perfection the Supreme character of what a man or women should actually be; he was God incarnate yet was humble enough to wash the dirt from others feet!

This should be the nature exemplified in all of us who claim his Glorious name; yet “blowing smoke” in the face of others we consider as “lesser” should be shameful to us who have been given so very much in being redeemed.

Are You Obsessed by Something?

Are You Obsessed by Something?

Who is the man that fears the Lord?  PSALM 25:12

Are you obsessed by something? You will probably say, “No, by nothing,” but all of us are obsessed by something— usually by ourselves, or, if we are Christians, by our own experience of the Christian life. But the psalmist says that we are to be obsessed by God. The abiding awareness of the Christian life is to be God Himself, not just thoughts about Him. The total being of our life inside and out is to be absolutely obsessed by the presence of God. A child’s awareness is so absorbed in his mother that although he is not consciously thinking of her, when a problem arises, the abiding relationship is that with the mother. In that same way, we are to “live and move and have our being” in God (Acts 17:28), looking at everything in relation to Him, because our abiding awareness of Him continually pushes itself to the forefront of our lives.

If we are obsessed by God, nothing else can get into our lives— not concerns, nor tribulation, nor worries. And now we understand why our Lord so emphasized the sin of worrying. How can we dare to be so absolutely unbelieving when God totally surrounds us? To be obsessed by God is to have an effective barricade against all the assaults of the enemy.

“He himself shall dwell in prosperity…” (Psalm 25:13). God will cause us to “dwell in prosperity,” keeping us at ease, even in the midst of tribulation, misunderstanding, and slander, if our “life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). We rob ourselves of the miraculous, revealed truth of this abiding companionship with God. “God is our refuge…” (Psalm 46:1). Nothing can break through His shelter of protection. From My Utmost for His Highest Updated Edition

Love Never Fails

Published on Jun 1, 2019

It is the Lord who has shown me that the power to overcome “the sufferings of Christ” within us, is to realize the great love and mercy he has shown to us. It is much easier to be critical with our feelings within, than it is to yield to the Lord’s love within, and to obtain the power to forgive others for the many injustices we may have suffered. Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Have Not Love

Published on May 30, 2019

We who claim to be followers of Jesus Christ need to examine our motivations when speaking to others. “How old” we are in the Lord, nor even our zeal, will exempt us from speaking the truth in love. Without the love of the Lord in our hearts; we are but a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal!

Not by word, but by power

1 Corinthians 4: 19-21
19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. 21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?
1 Corinthians 2:4
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

Different God’s

The “New Age” seeks a different god, than the God of the Bible: and the world will worship him, yet reject the other(s), in now the end of the age… I examine Alan Watts ~ Society Is A Hoax , Take Control Of Your Life – video, and what I know of the Bible, and “so called” 19th century thinking, all now considered antiquated! Now we are in the NEW AGE when science is god, and all-knowing man is supreme… It won’t be long now brethren!

Another bloody lighthouse!

Matthew 16:13-20  (KJV)

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

“The Christ, the son of the living God” is the Rock of Ages, the promised one for the remission of sin. “Upon this truth” He will build His Church (Eklisia), and the gates of hell shall not prevail!

Also, Jesus (the Bride Groom) is saying that he will build his “church” – he does not say that man will build his church. Man (humanity) has no control of how the Father decides to work within a person’s life (or not) by the power of the Holy Spirit. Many churches preach the gospel, yet it is the Lord God who decides to empower and fill his elect.

All the preaching and “temple building” in the world will not affect God’s will for our lives, as He alone is sovereign moving in his own providence in whom he chooses to do a work.

Only an anti-Christ would dare and assume that they have this power in moving independent of God’s leading.

Unfortunately, this is what a large portion of the so-called “church” has become. I believe this is symbolized in Revelations 17-18, the Chief anti-Christ (Harlot, an unfaithful bride) and her daughters, the offspring of the Roman Catholic Church – even the so-called Protestants who may also be unfaithful to the Bridegroom, Jesus Christ.

This is those who have a form of Godliness, but not the power thereof, and the faithful are instructed to avoid such as these. The Bible does not say to try to convert or to “protest” them, but rather to simply avoid them.

If one is to repent (change their mind) about such heretical teachings, and earnestly and humbly follow Christ, that brother or sister is then restored to the rest of the brethren.

Moving independent of our Lord’s leading in “building something for Jesus – the do it yourself salvation plan, has become epidemic today, primarily because of the “lack of knowledge” (spiritual) that an Elder is required to understand, along with sound doctrines.

I won’t mention any names, but a friend of mine told me that the Eastern Shore, (wear I live) is about to be invaded by yet another tambourine beating, guitar strumming, hand waving charismatic personalities in which I had fled from earlier in my life from the overcrowded western shore, and back to my roots, I might add! I now feel invaded by the very people I attempted to move far away from!

To me, you cannot have a “mega church movement” as the Lord God moves in individuals and not on mass like a bunch of cattle or Catholics (at the risk of being offensive). Rather the Lord moves quietly amongst the hearts who are still and will listen to him he has done a work within.

I will stop there, as I do not wish to paint people with too broad a brush, but I can tell you that the Lord is the one who builds his church, and this is not done in the flesh like at a carnival; the word derived from carnal!

Be still and know that “I am God” – the Bible teaches; it does not say to build something for Jesus, even in our misplaced zeal.

Walking with Jesus

I have read a lot of good books over the years about walking in the Holy Spirit, to include one of my first books the Sovereignty of God by A.W. Pink. Oswald Chambers and Watchmen Knee have also had a tremendous impact of my life, along with Jonathan Edwards and many others.

John 10: 27-28 commentary:

But ultimately my walk was most effected by the Lord himself in learning to “remain still” (as dead) and simply listen to him! “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me” John 10:27. The second part reads in verse 28: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

It was very difficult for me to find broadcasts that spoke about hearing the Lord by most preachers, which I found incredibly strange since this was one of the foundational principles of walking with the Lord! It is my concern, that most ministers focus on doctrinal teachings within the scriptures, but then rarely seem to preach on following the Lord himself, which the heart of the scriptures are indeed teaching about!

I can remember my Mom who was a Women’s Bible teacher for decades telling me that “you are right, our church spoke about (their missionaries) actually hearing the Lord” … I thought to myself, well they had better realize they can hear him!  And yet, this subject is hardly ever spoken about in most churches and has been a cause of great heart ache to me over the years!

Then we have the second part of the verse, which seems to me that if you get the first part mentioned above, then you must overcome those who would detract from verse 28; as in – losing your Salvation!

I truly believe that Satan recognizes the significance of these 2 verses and does everything in his power to at the very least, causes our flesh to either overlook them or worse yet – to make us think we have something to do with it!

The most we can do is to put on the armor of God, which we have been provided by our Lord’s atonement for sin. In both cases if we choose to either not listen, or to try and be Holy in ourselves; is both moving in independence, rather than dependence upon the work of the cross! This is why the Lord spoke to me years ago while nearly drowning in the surf; saying “you can do nothing”!

I believe Satan does not want a believer to grasp the significance of these verses, which is; that none of our spiritual walk is within our mortal power to obtainno matter how hard we try in the flesh.

The key to walking with the Lord, is in simply learning how to yield to His Holy Spirit within usChrist in us, the hope of glory.

Users Remorse

I don’t intend to be mean-spirited in pointing out errors I have found in another’s teaching, yet rather in becoming a victim myself to some near heretical ramblings, I offer the following insights…

I once spent six years in street ministry learning Bible from a man holding three doctorates which he spent 22 years in seminary to achieve. Yet more importantly, he could move in the things of God, and not just teach about them. He was a doer of the word, not just a hearer – or what we used to call on ship, a repeater. I even have had experience in some dealing with demons, as Dr. Gross was one of two top exorcist in Baltimore City.

To a large degree, I too have moved in the power of the Lord, and if I didn’t scare people by sharing these events in my life, then they were more like stolen treasures to me: as I had willingly attempted to build up others in encouragement of the Lord, within the leadership with the things I had experienced. Little did I realize, but most were ravaging wolves and pigs who perhaps unwittingly just wanted to make a name for themselves.

Have you ever heard it said that the first witness is of God, and the others Satan? I never understood this till recently, as I had never met a man who speaks so fervently about the Lord, in being with him, following him, and moving in his power. Yet he often speaks as if, no others are capable of doing it, and the past churches he often speaks about are certainly not moving within the power of the Lord (any longer). He speaks continually about all types of churches who once had something of the Lord, yet no longer do… He says this is deadly serious stuff, and warns of the broad roader’s destruction should they not heal to the Lord continually.

Allot of people are attracted to such a showman, especially in having a large amount of understanding of the scriptures, (including myself). Yet I learned later, that the man cannot move within the things of God, which he often preaches about to others!

I can tell you, which for the most part, his preaching he is correct; as I too once moved in the power of the Lord, and I must say I experienced rejection by most churches, probably starting in the mid 90’s. Yet the reason for not moving now, is because I believe the Lord has chosen this time to remain silent!

No matter how fervently one follows the Lord, it is not possible to move him to power within your life, unless he chooses to move (in the manner – in which you might wish). I learned this years ago as, when he did move in power within my life, it was often a surprise to me – as I’m simply a jar made of clay like any other.

If the Lord has decided to shelve me for some later use, that is up to him. As “I wasn’t there when he made the heavens and the earth”, but I rather am most grateful when he does decide to use me in some task. What I find most irritating is one who chooses to speak for God, when they have not the authority nor commissioning!  It seems to me the brethren of today are experiencing the great falling away, and all the attacks on other brethren (Churches) will not, and does not change the place and time we are in within world history. All the fervent preaching in the world won’t change this fact of the history we are all witnessing. As an example, I have been watching television for years, and I never could understand why Hollywood, and others found acceptable the stars and behavior exhibited and promoted in programming. This is primarily because a believer has a nature change, yet the world does not, and to them we seem antiquated and rigid.

Yet nowadays it is now most evident, that decency and righteousness have become an item of the past: it is as if the staging has collapsed, with special interest groups, and debauchery being sold all over the world to people, in any color, taste or form.

Also, most churches are dead now, and even the PCA is under tremendous LGBT attacks, by people who wish to be identified as followers of Christ: (yet cannot be, as the fruit is wrong within them) – in accordance with the scriptures. Yet false brethren continually push the envelope in defiance of God.

Sin is the issue, and I am convinced this is the age of strong delusions, which the Bible prophesied about. I cannot fault a man’s zeal for the Lord, but I must condemn the condemnation of other real brethren, whom he feels have become unworthy of their calling, and have taken the broad road, which leads to spiritual death. The man then may cut off all forms of communication with you as he fancies, (as he has done it before) but unless you have sinned against God, and the brethren, he has no justification in accordance with the scriptures, and needs much more than a couple sycophants to collaborate his viewpoint in condemning another (which is the wrong type of judging).

Allot of people can pump up other believers to be fervent in the faith, and even zealous to gain “more power” in the Lord, but this will not happen unless the Lord himself decides to empowers you! It seems to me, when I had run short of stories of the Lord empowering me, to the man, then I was accused of “not being in the right place any longer with God”, and even “chastened of God” when I got sick. But I’m quite sure that if I had, had “another” miraculous near death experience of the Lord, I would have stifled this type of spiritual judgmentalism; which is deeply destructive to an actual child of God. And all for the sake of aggrandizing  oneself in the eyes of others, and feeding your own sense of grandeur about yourself: assuredly because of the same type of rejection which you have suffered from others and so feel justified in doing the same thing, I suspect. This is horrid to me, anyone who loves the truth of God so much, yet will then castigate others upon being challenged; especially when he falls short of his own expectations’ of what he expects from others (Romans 2: 1-4) !

I think a combination of hurt, rejection and wounded pride are to blame for such an idiosyncratic viewpoint of people, in whom  may now consider you an opponent or challenger to their “Narrow Road” legalism, which has unwittingly been used in justifying oneself before the Lord, while condemning others. This poor fellow even speaks about a condemnation upgrade from hades to hell for the wicked, in given that the more scripture they know (truth), (yet they do not do), leads to deeper punishment prior to the great throne judgment. This could be very possible, but I would hate to have a head full of scripture (truths), yet preach it as a heretic to others, only to later suffer  the very condemnation which you have preached about, God forbid!

All actual brethren and Elders, need much prayer and compassion in this time of great trail; but instead, the love of many has grown cold, and many believers are tossed upon the ash heap unjustifiably. This is precisely why two or three elders are needed prior to condemning another believer in the church, as it is too easy to misjudge another – even if you claim to be nearly infallible in your walk with the Lord!

My people perish for lack of knowledge…

Hosea 4:6 (KJV) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me!

Wake up oh sleeper… Ephesians 5:14, (KJV) “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”

So you don’t think worldly knowledge is important? One’s education of history, and specifically western civilization is of grave importance to understand: should our children perish for lack of knowledge, and critical thinking, in that we must all recognize human depravity, and a need for a Savior!

When I worked in street ministry Dr. Gross (holding a Phd in phycology) gave us all a test to see how much we learned was factual ( based on history) and what was fictional  in rewritten “social studies” and even high school english. I was surprised to learn that much of what I had been taught was false information, and this was in the 1980’s! Humanism was the new curriculum, which started after WW2 and imported from Europe, as the United States then had a teacher shortage at the time. From that time forward the educational system has been built on the foundation of Humanism (which was ruled by the Supreme Court as a religion) ; yet is anti-God, and now is widely known as Cultural Marxism today. One of the tactics taught by Marxists, was in convincing Christians that it is wrong to be involved in “worldly politics” in an effort to push their most ungodly and anti western ideals on a free people.

It is tragic that some Christians will assert that we only need listen to the Lord, while denying the need for truthful dialog, specifically geared towards our children in this age of great delusion! How selfish it is to become complacent in one’s belief system, simply because you refuse to be involved in the great “politically motivated” delusions taught to our children in an age of delusion which screams out for reason and truth, rather than rhetoric!

Below is a video well worth watching: explaining why historical and even political dialog: is critical for a believer in Jesus Christ!

Don’t become complacent in butt curling up in a corner with your Bible, while the whole of humanity desperately needs truth and light to be taught and understood, and not kept under a bushel basket!

Experienced 2 Corinthians 5: 6-8

Published on Dec 14, 2018

I finally found a man who lived over 200 years before I was born; whose writings confirm exactly what I experienced, called : True Saints, when Absent from the Body, Are Present with the Lord… In Explaining 2 Corinthians 5: 6-8

My condensed footnotes of the below points:
Point 1) Dwelling with Christ (as within the same home).
Point 2) Not to wait for it till the resurrection… signified to the Philippians 1: 22-23
Point 3) “Rather” is used as (“more pleasing” as the word properly signifies) to be with the Lord than to continue here…
Point 4) Constant light support and comfort in the midst of all…
Point 5) The souls of the saints, when they leave their bodies at death, go to be with Christ.

True Saints, when Absent from the Body,

Are Present with the Lord.

by Jonathan Edwards

(1703-1758)

I. They go to dwell in the same blessed abode with the glorified human nature of Christ.

  • 1. The great future privilege, which the apostle hoped for; that of being present with Christ. The words, in the original, properly signify dwelling with Christ, as in the same country or city, or making a home with Christ.

II. The souls of true saints, when they leave their bodies at death, go to be with Christ, as they go to dwell in the immediate, full and constant sight or view of him.

  • 2. When the apostle looked for this privilege, viz., when he should be absent from the body. Not to wait for it till the resurrection, when soul and body should be united again. He signifies the same thing in his epistle to the Philippians, chap. i. 22, 23: “But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor. Yet what I shall choose, I wot not. For I am in a strait between two; having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ.”

III. The souls of true saints, when absent from the body go to be with Jesus Christ, as they are brought into a most perfect conformity to and union with him.

  • 3. The value the apostle set on this privilege. It was such, that for the sake of it, he chose to be absent from the body. He was willing rather, or (as the word properly signifies) it were more pleasing to him, to part with the present life, and all its enjoyments, and be possessed of this great benefit, than to continue here.

IV. Departed souls of saints are with Christ, as they enjoy a glorious and immediate intercourse and converse with him.

  • 4. The present benefit, which the apostle had by his faith and hope of this future privilege, and of his great value for it, viz., that hence he received courage, assurance, and constancy of mind, agreeable to the proper import of the word that is rendered, we are confident. The apostle is now giving a reason of that fortitude and immovable stability of mind, with which he went through those extreme labors, hardships and dangers, which he mentions in this discourse; so that, in the midst of all, he did not faint, was not discouraged, but had constant light, and inward support, strength, and comfort in the midst of all: agreeable to the 10th verse of the foregoing chapter, “For which cause, we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” And the same is expressed more particularly in the 8th, 9th, and 10th verses, of that chapter: “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body, the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.” And in the next chapter, verses 4-10: “In all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watching’s, in fasting’s, by pureness, by knowledge, by long-suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.” .

V. The souls of the saints, when they leave their bodies at death, go to be with Christ, as they are received to a glorious fellowship with Christ in his blessedness.

  • 5. As the wife is received to a joint possession of her husband’s estate, and as the wife of a prince partakes with him in his princely possessions and honors; so the church, the spouse of Christ, when the marriage comes, and she is received to dwell with him in heaven, shall partake with him in his glory. When Christ rose from the dead, and took possession of eternal life; this was not as a private person, but as the public head of all his redeemed people. He took possession of it for them, as well as for himself; and “they are quickened together with him, and raised up together.” And so when he ascended into heaven, and was exalted to great glory there, this also was as a public person. He took possession of heaven, not only for himself, but his people, as their forerunner and head, that they might ascend also, “and sit together in heavenly places with him,” Eph. ii. 5, 6. “Christ writes upon them his new name,” Rev. iii. 12; i.e., he makes them partakers of his own glory and exaltation in heaven. His new name is that new honor and glory that the Father invested him with, when he set him on his own right hand. As a prince, when he advances any one to new dignity in his kingdom, gives him a new title. Christ and his saints shall be glorified together, Rom. viii. 17.

The saints in heaven have communion, or a joint participation with Christ in his glory and blessedness in heaven, in the following respects more especially…

Come Easy Come Hard

Published on Dec 16, 2018

Too much finger pointing about 1 John 2:15 is a destructive thing to do to brethren! There are those who use their spirituality in justifying themselves, while at the same time condemn others who may have disagreements with their perceptions. This type of behavior is based in the ego of the soul, rather than the human spirit, which only the Lord is equipped to judge.

Job’s Counselors ?

Up until the autumn of 2018, I had never met a man who claims to be a most devout follower of Jesus Christ, yet cannot admit he can (still) make misjudgments and mistakes; especially when concerning others. Until I met a man who is so devout to the Lord with his walk and beliefs, that he thinks nearly every step he takes is guided by the Holy Spirit: (except for glitches in the flesh) and therefore is incapable of being wrong – or especially wrong spirited!

This is sadly based on  idiosyncratic beliefs, and perhaps is rooted in “self-love” (which we all are guilty of to some degree) yet he uses his perceptions of following Jesus Christ, while in the condemnation of others: whom he believes have never been saved, or have even departed the Lord for “things of the world” (while hiding himself in the cleft of Jesus) – yet to “misjudge” others walks in this manner is very sad indeed!

Even upon my trying to reason with this beloved brother, he merely quoted (partial) scriptures, yet could not see his own fallibility of his judgments. I love the man, so this has been a particularly painful lesson for me, especially as I am most sensitive of my walk in the Lord. Yet I was nearly “disowned” when I got deadly sick, and told I was being “chastened of God” for a 13 year infection which had been growing in my heart’s wiring since originally installed by the military, after suffering my near death experience in the Army in 2005 – with Christ alongside of me! The device was very difficult to remove safely, yet I needed it done. The Lord provided me with the inventor of laser surgery in the heart, so even in this trail and suffering, I was most blessed!

I had even suffered a most terrible reaction to an intravenous antibiotic given me which caused a condition known as “Redman” causing my skin to itch and blister, which reminded me of Job in the Bible! Yet unlike Job, I have a wife who slept in a chair next to me while I suffered in anguish of a terrible burning and itching unlike I had never experienced before, yet it encompassed my entire body. I tried to keep myself quiet but must have failed, as I remember my dear wife sobbing by my side. I thank the Lord he has chosen to give me such a devoted and loving wife, who assists me in my faith, perhaps even more than I give her credit for!

I am cognitive of the fact that my suffering pales in comparison to some others suffering: as a  guy in my Army unit, who’s fuel truck hit an I.E.D.  and exploded burning his entire body – yet hanging him in a “jell bag” at a burn center, until he eventually expired over a year later! That kind of suffering is unimaginable to me!

Yet beyond physical suffering, the world suffers from emotional and mental suffering of all sorts and degrees, which is beyond the pale of most people’s understanding. In all of this, we also have the “human spirit” at an even deeper level, and wounding that can take years to heal – if it is healed at all! So I believe beyond the carnal sufferings in the world, it is even more grievous to me to mount attacks on one’s spirit, (whom the Lord alone is in control of) and yet men have the audacity to judge another as lesser than themselves, and their associates as often times being better than another.

Unbelievably, even men who have years in ministry in using the name of the Lord, can still be stiff-necked enough to deny others the grace which they have been shown! I now realize even in my zeal for following Jesus Christ, how unbelievably fallible I have been with others, particularly those who have hurt me; and I have asked forgiveness for it, realizing I make mistakes and miserably will misjudge others all the time, even when I don’t realize it!

As fallible humanity we must never convince ourselves we are without the ability to sin, make errors in judgment, and certainly never go ahead and apply it wrongly in another believer’s life! Rather if we are actual followers of the Lord, we should look for him in others, and in all situations which he has allowed in our lives.

We must continually have a humble and contrite heart within us, in order we “don’t miss” the Lord’s workings and healings within another. Even a verse like: 1 John 3:6 (KJV) Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him

One can twist this verse to say that they no longer sin (who have been born again); yet what it actually says is Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: (Known as WALKING IN THE SPIRIT ) and this is totally true, yet a constant abiding in Christ Jesus is required; and even the greatest of the Apostles fell short this mark (because of their fallen flesh “Romans 7:17”) and thus needing forgiveness by the grace of the Lord throughout their lives, until they finished the race set before them.

Additionally, (the wicked) “those who cannot help but sin”, (who have never seen him nor known him) cannot help themselves, as sin is their nature…  Does one beat a dog for being a dog, or does one have compassion?  So how much more should we have compassion for a brother who stumbles and falls during the trials of life?  Also, are we worse than a heathen (wicked) for not attending to the needs of our family? Are we without compassion for others? If so, we deny the very grace continually shown to us and that is the root of hypocrisy for a believer to practice dear brother.

1 John 4 is used to identify the Holy Spirit from counterfeit spirits, as to not be deceived by false teachers and others claiming to be of God. It was never intended to be used as a “soap box”  to aggrandize ourselves to others, or to cast aspersions devoid of any truth.  So rather than looking at 1 John 4 in a negative sense while searching for counterfeits, it is much more productive that we should identify whom the Lord is moving within; in all the situations which he has engineered within our lives.

Dear Lord, never again might I get so heady as to reckon myself above another….

TEST the SPIRITS

Often another verse which is “overused” by well intentioned, yet erroneous brethren…

1 John 4 (KJV) 4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Cross Reference… The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is a biblical term that sums up nine attributes of a person or community living in accord with the Holy Spirit, according to chapter 5 of the Epistle to the Galatians: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”[2] The fruit is contrasted with the works of the flesh which immediately precede it in this chapter. Empty Vessel

I have always discovered that when the Lord has actually used me, is when I am running on empty!

A common mistake made by often the most devout believers is often the wrongful judging of others spiritual walk, simply because we all are fallible in having our own insights. Here are a few verses I’ve taken from Romans to help explain what I mean…

Romans 2: 1
1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
Romans 3:10
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one
Romans 4: 7-8
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.  (Whom he has chosen to do a work within “by Grace”).

Holy Day Tree?

Published on Dec 1, 2018

1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) : 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

How can one call their (Christian) faith Holy, when it is a mixture of pagan practices..? Christmas was introduced in the U.S. as late as the 19th century.   Ask any coin collector about Constantine still striking out Roman coins to the God of Mithra, even until he died!

Jeremiah 10 (KJV) : 10 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

Nothing New Under the Sun…

{Click on Chart to Enlarge}

For thousands of years men have strived for a deeper walk and understanding of the Lord.

As this basic chart of church history shows, it is full of competing ideas of how to obtain that walk. The Holy Spirit is “the teacher” which Jesus spoke about teaching his disciples, and he always teaches us on a personal level, of what we are to receive in that moment. The Holy Scriptures are “but confirmatory” of the Holy Spirit, who God is, and how he works: so we should always read the scriptures prayerfully in order to be shown greater truths.

The problems arise when men try to take the Lord and have him conform (or fit) into their personal beliefs; instead of simply following him in obedience, like we were designed to do! This is simply what the flesh does, no matter how you dress it! I have taken a couple of verses from Ecclesiastes in the publishing of this graph to show that basically humanity has always fallen into the same doctrinal traps since the beginning of the “church age”, so that no one should be surprised if they hear some type of retread as exhibited here!

If one so chooses to live their life of faith (by the Holy Spirit) yet without an understanding of the past, and sound doctrines (as written in the scriptures); it certainly can be done by the Grace of the Lord alone; yet it is better to be enlightened by others errors who came before us, than us making them all ourselves, and having to learn most by trial and testing.

Yet it seems that each new generation must “taste of and learn anew”; only that which the brethren who have gone before us once learned and understood. My advice is to seek the truth (Jesus Christ – who is the truth) in all that you do, and when unsure if you are walking right; use the “owner’s manual” (Bible)!

In the end days many will be deceived by false teachers, and those who tickle our ears; so the only way to avoid these false brethren is to hold their teachings up in the light of the scripture, which our Lord has graciously provided for us (the people) with the invention of the printing press and of the Reformation!

Of course, we did not receive the scriptures to become scribes and Pharisees or false teachers, but rather to examine our own walks as the Lord be pleased to show us as we grow. Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers and Evangelist are all ministry giftings are given of God. Yet Satan is very capable in stumbling our understanding and “twisting truth” as the father of lies:  so we must seek to supplement our understanding, and properly identify heresies’, so as not to perish (be deceived) for lack of understanding about the Lord.

Never think that you have discovered a new a “prescriptive religion” which has never been followed since Jesus Christ; as it is likely a type of belief system that has been tried before, and you may be entering into apostasy unknowingly!

And always remember, Salvation is by Grace alone, not works!

Dr.Gross used to say; “Don’t put God in a box, or he will not be able to show you anything” ! Yet our flesh has a tendency to do just that, primarily because we are creatures of habits… All men have this tendency, and it is most evident to see in a Church history flowchart... (Above)

The NARROW WAY

We hear allot today about “entering in” by the NARROW WAY, but what is it? The narrow way is simply an extension of the completed work of Jesus Christ on our behalf!

We are powerless to overcome sin, and utterly dependent upon Christ, the mercy shown to us by the Father alone. There will be many who claim on that day to be followers of Jesus Christ, whom are turned away as Christ never knew them.

Yet the ones he does know will pass from death to life not by their own efforts on Christ’s behalf – but rather by the dependence that comes from knowing that only his work on the cross has made us complete in the Lord, and not of our own efforts.

Beyond our own noise

I was watching a documentary about breaking the sound barrier, and to me it has a lot of similarities in breaking out of our carnal understanding, into spiritual understanding! This seems to be a spiritual principle in hearing our Lord; as in “be still, and know that I am God”.
Anything not done in faith is sin the Bible tells us, so we must constantly be on guard against our own flesh (understanding) and only move forward in faith, in Christ alone. If we do not do that, but get bogged down in our own understanding and noise, we cannot break through to a place of peace and tranquility spiritually, as our own natural understanding is holding us back.

Just stay the course

Just stay the course while walking in the Spirit of the Lord, and when using discernment.

Allot is said today about discernment, yet discernment is always in accordance with the scriptures, if it is of the right spirit. Religious zeal although thoroughly believed by any honest brethren, must also be tested as in test the spirits of 1 John 4 ; in determining who is following Christ, as opposed to those who are deceived by another spirit.

On a bigger picture, since you are saved by grace it is only grace that will lead you home. I think of it as a ship whose compass setting is fixed upon Jesus Christ. Despite calm seas or roaring gales, the compass remains fixed, and unless you interfere with the settings, the ship of your life will remain on course unless you wilfully change course to a different heading; your maintained relationship with the Lord towards a deeper relationship with God will continue, simply because of the Grace in sending his son to us as we move forward in holding fast to the rudder of our lives..

I have experienced many others trying to tamper with my heading, but ultimately when I return to “the Keeper” an old seafarers term much like – the Captain of my Salvations, it is he who will make the reset in my life!

The Spirit of Antichrist, is not against Christ per say, but rather a counterfeit or close look alike to actually walking in Christ. Many well-meaning people may even use the allegory of an antichrist simply because they may disagree with what is being taught! This is where we enter into different type of teachings on how to follow Christ.

As I have said before, and have shared with many, Hebrew style witchcraft uses the scriptures to gain power. The Spirit of antichrist does much the same, so it is imperative that we understand good doctrines when held up to the light of scriptures as a whole, and not cherry pick from those verses which suite us.

Towards the end of the age, the Bible warns us that men will do what seems right in their own minds, and this is inclusive of many who claim to be followers of the truth, (who is Jesus Christ) within us. Feelings can often be confused with discernment, (like feeling the compass is off – when it is not) so it is imperative we have a proper understanding or balance of the scriptures within our minds. If we do not, than “Confirmation Biases” of others can than cloud our understanding.

One of the biggest problems in understanding the scriptures is our concept of Grace. Grace is just that, the grace of God, (which is spiritual) which surpasses our natural understanding in thinking we have to do something to remain in “good favor” with the Lord (so to speak). It is a lie! If we are saved from sin and ourselves by an ongoing sanctification because of grace, what makes anyone think that they can add to what has already been made complete in Christ?

The Galatians did this, adding to the completed work of Christ on the cross in observances and different practices. Paul said that having started with Christ by Grace, are you now made perfect by the flesh? He went on to say who has bewitched you?

Many of the problems arise today because of “Biblical illiteracy”, and people following men who are posing as Shepherds to the flock (antichrists). Yet eventually if we are being moved into greater sanctification by our Lord, (even though by struggle) any confused sheep with a love for the truth (Christ) that they might be saved, will move beyond the deception in understanding and becoming more Christ like, in being conformed into his image by the grace of God.

If anyone thinks that they are capable of pushing forward of this work of sanctification in the flesh, (even when using Holiness doctrines) they are acting independent of God, as he alone is the one who saves and sanctifies us from sin (by Grace) and no one else, despite how devout they may be!

Even this devoutness to the Lord, when applied independently of his leading – is based in the flesh, which technically is based in sin, as sin is based in independence. Antichrists move in independence from the Lord in leading others astray, and always away from Grace – as they are not “with him” and are failing to submit to the simple prodding of the Holy Spirit to be still, (or even more profoundly put) to be as dead. To be “as dead” takes crucifixion of the old man within us, not of ourselves but in YIELDING to the workings of the Holy Spirit within us.

However, legalism and pride will never allow for this simple yielding to Christ, as the flesh is at war against him, as it does not wish to be put to death on the cross (metaphorically speaking)!

One of the toughest type of people (antichrists) to overcome, is that of one who is deeply knowledgeable about the Bible and the Spiritual world, and who has the ability to convey his thoughts well to others, yet refuses to be conformed to Christ’s image himself!

This may not be noticeable on the surface to one who is well groomed in this type of ministry, and also the Lord himself may still be doing an ongoing work of sanctification in the brother. So, he too may be blind (cannot see) his own error. Yet what is even more dangerous is one who has doubled down in his own understanding and will not be moved, just like the religious’ leaders of the past Jesus was always in opposition with.
